Bengali Funny Story Tak by Ullas Das - published in Sanada

Long before my work moved into digital media, films, technology, and AI-led storytelling, my creative life began with Bengali words on paper.

This page brings together selected stories and literary works that appeared in Bengali print magazines and newspapers, including Sananda, Anishkuri, Anandamela, and other publications. These were not just publications for me – they were early proof that stories could travel farther than the room where they were written.

A Beginning in Bengali Literature

My relationship with Bengali literature started unusually early.

In grade 5, I created a small home-based public library with a few hundred books and around twenty young members. It was simple, imperfect, and entirely handmade – but for me, it was the first real experience of building a reading community.

Around grade 5 or 6, I also began editing and publishing a little magazine called Notun Jagat. At that young age, I was recognized as one of the youngest little magazine editors in West Bengal. The magazine continued for several years and became my first serious training ground in editing, publishing, reader connection, and literary discipline.

First Book of Poetry

My first poetry book, Bangla Ami Boddhay Tomake Bhalobashi Na, was published in 1999, when I was still in school, around grade 10.

Looking back, it was not just a book – it was an early declaration of identity. A teenager trying to understand language, emotion, rebellion, love, and Bengal through poetry.

Stories in Print

Over the years, my stories and literary pieces found their way into respected Bengali magazines and newspapers. Some of the screenshots and scans shared here are from that print journey.

For me, these publications represent a time when writing meant waiting, rewriting, posting manuscripts, hearing back from editors, and finally seeing one’s name printed on a page. It was slower than today’s digital world, but perhaps that made every printed word feel heavier.

Why This Page Matters

This page is not only an archive of old publications.

It is a reminder that my work across films, technology, publishing, audio storytelling, and AI did not begin suddenly. It grew from a long relationship with Bengali culture, magazines, libraries, stories, editing, and the old-fashioned joy of holding printed words in hand.

Before platforms, there were pages.
Before analytics, there were readers.
Before algorithms, there was the stubborn love of storytelling.

And that journey continues.
